Canam Group, Inc.
A maker of steel building components and bridges, Canam Group designs, manufactures, and installs steel joists, girders, deck, and structural steel used in offices, factories, and multi-story housing across North America. Founded in 1960 in Quebec as Canam Steel Works, the company grew to become one of the region's largest steel-joist builders after founder Marcel Dutil took over in 1972. Its name was suggested by an early collaborator, Armand Poulin, after the more ordinary "St-Georges Steel Works" was rejected — and in 2007 its Quebec plant produced steel joists measuring over 77 meters long.
