Aegion Corp

A maker of trenchless pipeline technology, Aegion Corp repairs aging water, sewer, and energy pipes without digging up streets, using a "cured-in-place pipe" method that creates a new pipe inside the old one. The company was formed in 2011 around Insituform, whose British engineer Eric Wood invented the technique in 1971 after a leaking air duct dripped condensation onto mushroom beds. Its name blends the Greek "aegis" (a protective shield) and "eon" (a long time), reflecting its mission of long-term infrastructure protection.
