A provider of marine fuel, Aegean Marine Petroleum supplies bunker fuel and lubricants to container ships, tankers, cruise liners and ferries, delivering at ports and out at sea from its own fleet of double-hull bunkering tankers. Founded in 1995 by Dimitris Melissanidis in Piraeus, Greece, it took its name from the Aegean Sea near its home base. A pioneer of double-hull tankers, it built one of the world's largest such fleets years before stricter spill rules made them the norm.
