A regional telecommunications provider now doing business under the name altafiber, this company delivers fiber-optic internet, phone, and TV services across Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana, plus Hawaii through its Hawaiian Telcom unit. Its roots reach back to 1873, when Cincinnati businessmen founded the City and Suburban Telegraph Association, which became Ohio's first telephone exchange in 1878.
