Colony Northstar Inc

A global real estate and investment management firm that buys, operates, and lends against properties like offices, hotels, and apartment buildings, and manages investment funds for institutions and wealthy investors. It began in 1991 when financier Thomas Barrack Jr. founded Colony Capital to scoop up distressed real estate during the savings-and-loan crisis, building one of the world's largest such firms. In 2017 it merged with NorthStar Asset Management and NorthStar Realty Finance to become Colony NorthStar, only to change its name back to Colony Capital a year and a half later.
