Conn'S Inc
A Texas specialty retailer that sold furniture, mattresses, appliances, and consumer electronics in stores across the American South and beyond. It grew out of a plumbing and heating company founded in Beaumont, Texas, in 1890; when appliance salesman Carroll Washington Conn Sr. bought the struggling business in 1934, he renamed it and steered it toward retail. The company also ran a consumer credit division that let shoppers pay over time, and its stores operated until a 2024 bankruptcy liquidation closed them.
