Consol Energy Inc

A coal and natural gas producer rooted in western Maryland's Georges Creek coal seam, whose name is a shortened form of the Consolidation Coal Company formed in 1860 when several small mining firms merged. It split off its gas business as CNX Resources in 2017 and later merged with Arch Resources to become Core Natural Resources. A fun twist: its mines first fired up in 1864, right in the middle of the American Civil War.
