Consolidated Communications Holdings, Inc.
A telecommunications provider delivering fiber internet, voice, and security services to homes and businesses across the United States, now operating under the brand Fidium. It began in 1894 as the Mattoon Telephone Company in Illinois, founded by Dr. Iverson A. Lumpkin after the Bell system left the town without service. The "Consolidated" name came from merging many small local phone exchanges; in 2025 the company rebranded entirely as Fidium, the name its fiber service already used.
