Continental Resources Inc
A petroleum and natural gas exploration company based in Oklahoma City that finds crude oil and natural gas in shale formations across the United States, including the Bakken region of North Dakota and Montana and the SCOOP fields of Oklahoma. It was founded in 1967 by Harold Hamm, the youngest of thirteen children of Oklahoma sharecroppers, who started his own oil company at age twenty-one. The firm was originally named Shelly Dean Oil Company after Hamm's two daughters before being renamed Continental Resources in 1990.
