A special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC — a shell created to raise money and then buy a private business to take it public. Led by consumer-industry veterans Jim Kilts (former CEO of Gillette) and Dave West (former CEO of Hershey), it had no products of its own but hunted for acquisitions in the consumer world. Its first merger folded Atkins Nutritionals into a new company, The Simply Good Foods Company, maker of the low-carb meal brands. The "Conyers Park" name is a brand chosen by its founders for their series of blank-check vehicles, which ran from the original Conyers Park through a third version.
