Cooper-Standard Holdings Inc.
A maker of the seals and fluid-handling systems that keep cars quiet, dry, and running smoothly, Cooper-Standard supplies automakers worldwide with weatherstripping, door seals, and hoses. It began as the Standard Products Company in Ohio in 1919, founded by a physician-turned-inventor whose improved window channels appeared in nearly every U.S.-built car by 1954. Its name comes from 1999, when Cooper Tire & Rubber bought Standard and split itself into Cooper Tire and Cooper-Standard Automotive. One fun twist: its QuickEdge trim snaps on without glue or screws and turns up everywhere from garage doors to satellite dishes.
