Credit Suisse AG
A Swiss bank that for more than 160 years served wealthy individuals, corporations, and investors with private banking, wealth management, and investment services. Politician Alfred Escher founded it in Zurich in 1856 as Schweizerische Kreditanstalt — Swiss Credit — because his railway projects couldn't get funding elsewhere; so mighty was his influence that contemporaries called him "King Alfred I." In June 2023 the bank was absorbed by Zurich rival UBS.
