Crimson Exploration Inc

A Houston-based independent oil and natural gas company that searched for and drilled crude oil and gas in the Woodbine and Eagle Ford shale plays of onshore South Texas and the Gulf Coast. Founded in 1987, it became a wholly owned subsidiary of Contango Oil & Gas in 2013 through an all-stock merger combining offshore and onshore assets. One quirk: several unrelated energy firms share the "Crimson" name.
