Novellus Systems Inc

A maker of machines that coat silicon wafers with thin films for computer chips, Novellus Systems built the chemical vapor deposition tools used by semiconductor factories worldwide. Founded in 1984 by former Applied Materials engineers, the company's "Concept One" system stood out by processing many wafers at once instead of one at a time. Its name comes from the Latin "novellus," meaning "new," and the company was folded into Lam Research in 2012.
