Lucent Technologies Inc
A maker of telecommunications networking equipment, Alcatel-Lucent built the routers, switches, and wireless systems that carry phone calls and internet traffic for carriers worldwide. It was born in 2006 when France's Alcatel merged with Lucent Technologies, the American firm spun off from AT&T in 1996 that carried the legendary Bell Labs research arm. The name Alcatel comes from a French acronym meaning "Alsatian Society of Atomic Constructions, Telecommunications, and Electronics."
