Cymabay Therapeutics Inc
A biopharmaceutical company that developed medicines for liver and other chronic diseases, most notably seladelpar, an experimental treatment for primary biliary cholangitis, a rare liver condition. It began life in the early 1990s as Metabolex, focusing on metabolic conditions like diabetes, then rebranded as CymaBay in 2013 to reflect its new focus on liver disease. In 2024 it was bought by the drug giant Gilead Sciences in a deal that made seladelpar part of Gilead's portfolio.
