Dst Systems Inc
A financial technology firm that built the software behind mutual fund recordkeeping, handling back-office operations for banks, insurance companies, and healthcare organizations. Founded in 1969 in Kansas City as Data·Sys·Tance, a subsidiary of railroad operator Kansas City Southern, its name came from "Data Systems Assistance" and was shortened to DST in 1977. Fittingly for a railroad's spin-off, the company grew out of tech originally used to track train operations before SS&C Technologies acquired it in 2018.
