A Shanghai-based online retail and delivery platform, Dada runs two services: Dada Now, a crowdsourced last-mile delivery network, and JD Now, a marketplace where shoppers order groceries, produce, and medicine from local stores. Founded in 2014 by Philip Kuai, the company merged with JD.com's on-demand delivery unit, JD Daojia, in 2016 to form today's combined business. The name "Dada" was picked for its short, friendly, easy-to-remember sound.
