Arena Pharmaceuticals Inc

A biopharmaceutical company that built small-molecule drugs to treat diseases, including the weight-management pill Belviq (lorcaserin) and later the ulcerative-colitis treatment etrasimod. Founded in 1997 in San Diego by Jack Lief and Dominic Behan, it focused on G protein-coupled receptors, a class of drug targets. In 2022 the company was acquired by Pfizer, which later marketed etrasimod under the brand Velsipity.
