Delia*s Inc
A maker of teen clothing and accessories for girls and young women, dELiA*s became a 1990s cultural touchstone through its magazine-style mail-order catalogs and later mall stores. It was founded in 1993 by two former Yale roommates, Stephen Kahn and Christopher Edgar, who pitched investors by comparing their ever-changing catalog to MTV. The name "Delia" was never tied to a real person — the company invented a fictional, cool-girl persona to give the brand its identity.
