Denbury Resources Inc.
A US oil producer that specialized in enhanced oil recovery — pumping carbon dioxide into tapped-out oilfields to loosen oil too thick to flow on its own. Founded in 1951 as a Canadian mining outfit called Kay Lake Mines, it renamed itself Denbury in 1995 after shifting focus south. Its prized asset was Mississippi's Jackson Dome, the only significant natural CO2 reservoir east of the Mississippi, feeding a vast CO2 pipeline network until ExxonMobil bought the company in 2023.
