Dendreon Corporation
A biotechnology company that makes personalized cancer treatments using a patient's own immune cells. Its flagship product, Provenge, approved by the FDA in 2010, became the first therapeutic cancer vaccine ever cleared for prostate cancer. Founded in 1992 by Stanford researchers as Activated Cell Therapy, it was renamed Dendreon in 1997 after the "dendritic" immune cells at the heart of its technology.
