A maker of maternity clothing, Destination Maternity operated the well-known brands Motherhood Maternity and the upscale A Pea in the Pod, once ranking as one of the world's largest retailers of expectant-mom fashions. It began in 1982 when architect Rebecca Matthias, frustrated by the lack of professional maternity wear, started selling from her own home with husband Dan; the business first went by Mothers Work, Inc. before renaming itself Destination Maternity in 2008, and today its brands live on mainly as online shops.
