A special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC — a "blank check" firm that raises money from investors to later buy an existing private business. Founded in 2021 and listed on Nasdaq in 2023, TMT Acquisition Corp used those funds to combine with eLong Power, a maker of high-power lithium-ion batteries for electric buses, heavy-duty trucks, mining vehicles, and energy storage systems. The "TMT" name hints at technology, media, and telecom — yet the company ended up backing a battery business instead, an unexpected twist.
