Dime Community Bancshares, Inc.
A bank holding company in Hauppauge, New York, whose subsidiary Dime Community Bank offers checking, savings, and lending to individuals, small businesses, and commercial customers, with deep roots in multifamily and commercial real estate lending. It began in 1864 in Brooklyn as the Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh, named so that anyone could open an account with just one dime — a doorway into savings for working families that big banks turned away. In 2021 the company combined with Bridge Bancorp in a so-called "merger of equals."
