A biopharmaceutical company that makes vaccines to protect against infectious diseases, best known for HEPLISAV-B, an adult hepatitis B vaccine that needs only two shots given a month apart instead of the usual three over six months. Founded in 1996 and based in Emeryville, California, it was first incorporated as "Double Helix Corporation" before taking the name Dynavax Technologies. Its vaccines work by using a special immune-boosting ingredient, an adjuvant called CpG 1018, that helps the body build a stronger response.
