Eaton Vance Corp
An investment management firm, Eaton Vance runs mutual funds, closed-end funds, ETFs, and managed accounts for financial advisors and individual investors, now operating as part of Morgan Stanley Investment Management. Its roots go back to 1924, when Charles F. Eaton Jr. founded the Boston firm Eaton & Howard; the "Vance" arrived in 1979 when Eaton & Howard merged with Vance, Sanders & Company, and Eaton Vance Corp. was formally reconstituted in 1981. Fun quirk: the firm's name is a patchwork of two Boston money-managers that joined forces, not a single founder's surname.
