Energy Xxi Gulf Coast Inc

An oil and gas exploration company built on an "acquire and exploit" strategy: it bought mature, aging Gulf of Mexico fields that larger companies had written off, then applied new drilling techniques to revive their output. Founded in Houston in 2005, its name uses the Roman numeral XXI for "21st century." The company renamed itself Energy XXI Gulf Coast after a 2016 financial restructuring, and Cox Oil acquired it in 2018.
