Equity Commonwealth
A real estate investment trust that owned and operated office properties across the United States, Equity Commonwealth was founded in 1986 as CommonWealth REIT. In 2014, after an activist campaign and a takeover by Sam Zell's team, it adopted the "Equity" name to sit alongside Zell's other firms like Equity Residential. The company dissolved in 2025, winding down and distributing its holdings to shareholders.
