A business development company that lent money to small and mid-sized businesses that couldn't easily get traditional bank loans, offering senior secured loans and mezzanine debt. Founded by Leonard M. Tannenbaum in 1998, it went public in 2008 and traded on the NASDAQ under the ticker FSC. In 2017, after Oaktree Capital Management took over its investment advisory business, the company was renamed Oaktree Specialty Lending Corporation — a name change that often gets it confused with the unrelated Fifth Third Bank.
