An American athletic retailer selling brand-name sneakers, apparel, and accessories from labels like Nike and Adidas to everyday shoppers. Co-founders Alan Cohen and David Klapper started out in 1976 running an Athlete's Foot franchise in Indianapolis before launching their own chain, The Finish Line, in the early 1980s. The name nods to a race's finish — a fitting pick for a store built around running shoes. British sportswear giant JD Sports bought the company in 2018, keeping Finish Line as a separate brand in the US.
