First Data Corp New

A payment processing company that builds the "plumbing" behind card transactions, helping businesses accept credit, debit, and prepaid card payments in stores and online. Founded in 1971 in Omaha, Nebraska, it grew out of the Mid-America Bankcard Association, a consortium of Midwest banks that teamed up to handle the paper bottleneck of growing credit card use. It also created the Clover point-of-sale platform used by small businesses, and once owned Western Union, and was later acquired by Fiserv in 2019.
