Furniture Brands International, Inc.

A major American furniture maker that owned several iconic household brands, including Thomasville, Drexel Heritage, Lane, and Broyhill, whose sofas, tables, and chairs furnished countless homes across the country. It began life in 1911 as the International Shoe Company in St. Louis, one of the largest footwear makers of its day, before shedding its shoe and apparel businesses (including Florsheim and Converse) to go all-in on furniture and renaming itself in 1996. Fun fact: during World War II it was the largest supplier of shoes to the U.S. military, a far cry from its later career in living rooms.
