Agl Resources Inc.

A natural gas utility holding company, AGL Resources piped gas to homes and businesses across several southeastern US states. Its roots reach back to the Atlanta Gas Light Company, founded in 1856 to light Atlanta's streets with gas lamps — the first glow came on Christmas Day 1855, before the city was even formally incorporated. The company became the holding company AGL Resources in 1995, and Southern Company later absorbed it in 2016, renaming it Southern Company Gas.
