A national provider of outsourced diagnostic imaging and radiation oncology services, Alliance HealthCare Services runs MRI, CT, and PET/CT scanners and cancer-treatment equipment for hospitals, health systems, and physician practices across the United States. It began in the early 1980s as Alliance Imaging, a mobile imaging company that brought MRI technology to hospitals that couldn't afford their own machines, and grew into one of the country's largest mobile MRI providers. The company renamed itself Alliance HealthCare Services in 2009 to reflect its broader clinical reach, and in 2021 it was acquired by Akumin, another imaging and oncology provider.
