Alliance Holdings Gp, L.p.

A master limited partnership whose sole purpose was to own and control the managing general partner of Alliance Resource Partners, one of the largest coal producers in the eastern United States. The business began in 1996, when Joe Craft led a buyout of MAPCO's coal operations and took it public in 1999 as the first publicly traded coal master limited partnership. In 2018, Alliance Holdings was folded into Alliance Resource Partners in a "simplification" that ended the dual-partnership structure.
