General Growth Properties, Inc.
A major American company that built and owned some of the country's biggest shopping malls, founded in 1954 when three Bucksbaum brothers turned from groceries to real estate after financing a shopping center for their father's fourth grocery store. Originally named General Management, it renamed itself General Growth Properties in 1970 as malls became its focus. In 2018 the Canadian firm Brookfield bought it and folded its malls into its own retail group.
