Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes S.a.
A Brazilian airline that brought the low-cost, low-fare model to Brazil, flying an all-Boeing 737 fleet on passenger routes across the country and beyond. Founded in 2000 by Nenê Constantino and his son, it made its first flight in 2001, and in 2007 it absorbed the historic carrier Varig and its Smiles loyalty program. The name GOL is Portuguese for "goal," a nod to Brazil's deep passion for football.
