A specialized investment firm and real estate investment trust (REIT) that provides capital for climate-friendly energy infrastructure — utility-scale solar, wind power, battery storage, and efficiency upgrades — for utilities, companies, and governments. It began in 1981 in Virginia as Eden Hannon Goodwin & Company, took the name Hannon Armstrong in 1989 from its founders' surnames, and became HA Sustainable Infrastructure Capital in 2024.
