Heliogen Inc
A maker of concentrated solar technology, Heliogen uses AI-guided mirrors called heliostats to focus sunlight onto a tower, generating heat intense enough for industrial processes like cement, steel, and fuel that usually burn fossil fuels. Founded in 2013 by entrepreneur Bill Gross, it grew out of his tech incubator Idealab and was renamed Heliogen in 2019 after starting life as Edison Microgrids. The name blends 'Helio' — Greek for the sun god Helios — with 'gen' for genesis, meaning power made straight from sunlight.
