Hi-Crush Partners LP

A producer and deliverer of frac sand — the high-purity silica sand pumped into oil and gas wells during hydraulic fracturing to prop open rock fractures so fuel can flow. Founded around 2010 by a petroleum engineer and an energy financier, Hi-Crush grew into one of the largest suppliers of "Northern White" sand, mined and processed at facilities across western Wisconsin, then hauled by rail to wellsites. Its name nods to the industry's "crush" — the mining process of breaking rock into fine particles.
