Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc.
A maker of warships for the U.S. military, Huntington Ingalls builds the Navy's nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and submarines, plus the Marines' amphibious assault ships. It formed in 2011 when Northrop Grumman spun off its shipyards, uniting Newport News (founded 1886) and Ingalls (1938), its name honoring the two founders. Newport News launched the world's first nuclear carrier, the USS Enterprise, in 1960.
