Istar Inc

A real estate investment and finance company, iStar lent money and provided financing for commercial property projects across the United States. Founded in 1993, it grew into a major real estate investment trust and is best known for founding Safehold, which pioneered the "modern ground lease" — letting owners sell the land under their buildings while keeping the structures. iStar also served for years as the developer of the Asbury Park, New Jersey waterfront, and in 2023 it merged with Safehold and took on that name.
