Icahn Enterprises L.p.

A diversified holding company that bundles together a broad mix of businesses under one roof. Its holdings span energy, through refiner and fertilizer maker CVR Energy, along with investments, real estate, automotive parts, and food packaging. It began life in 1987 as American Real Estate Partners, a real estate and gaming vehicle, and was renamed Icahn Enterprises in 2007 after absorbing founder Carl Icahn's private investment funds. The "Icahn" name comes from Carl Icahn himself, the famous activist investor who once famously joked that his greatest gift to humanity was quitting medical school.
