Idenix Pharmaceuticals Inc
A biopharmaceutical company based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Idenix developed oral antiviral drugs for viral diseases like hepatitis B and C. Founded in 1998 by pharmacologist Jean-Pierre Sommadossi, it created telbivudine (sold as Tyzeka and Sebivo), a hepatitis B treatment co-developed with Novartis and approved by the FDA in 2006. Pharmaceutical giant Merck acquired the company in 2014.
