A maker of tiny motion-sensing chips, InvenSense designs the MEMS gyroscopes and accelerometers that let smartphones, game controllers, and cameras detect movement and orientation. Its sensors powered the Nintendo Wii MotionPlus accessory, giving players precise 1:1 motion tracking. Founded in 2003 in San Jose by MEMS veteran Steve Nasiri, the company's name blends "invention" and "sense." It was acquired by Japanese electronics giant TDK in 2017.
