A St. Louis pharmaceutical firm that made branded and generic drugs, including tablets and capsules, through subsidiaries such as Ther-Rx and Ethex. Founded in 1942 by chemical engineer Victor Hermelin and Bob Keith, the company's name comes from their initials. Hermelin, who held more than a hundred patents, invented the timed-release capsule — and earlier in his career the skinless frankfurter.
