A biopharmaceutical company developing treatments for eye diseases, best known for EYSUVIS, an eye drop approved to treat inflammation and pain after eye surgery. The company, founded in 2009 as Kala Pharmaceuticals and renamed Kala Bio, also developed Inveltys for ocular inflammation. Its name was inspired by the medical journal of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, which in early years was called "Kala" — a nod to the field it serves.
