Kansas City Southern

A North American freight railroad moving goods between Kansas City and the Gulf of Mexico, and the only United States-based carrier with a major rail network running deep into Mexico through its Kansas City Southern de México arm. It began as an 1887 Kansas City belt line and took the Kansas City Southern Railway name in 1900 for the route it built south to the Gulf. Fun quirk: though called "Southern," it expanded north and into Mexico, with "Southern" describing the Gulf Coast it reached rather than any fixed geography.
