L-3 Communications Holdings, Inc.
A defense electronics maker that builds avionics, night vision goggles, secure radios, and intelligence-gathering equipment used by militaries and government agencies. Founded in 1997 when Frank Lanza and Robert LaPenta bought the defense electronics arm of Loral from Lockheed Martin; the "L-3" name stands for the two founders plus Loral. In 2019 it merged with Harris Corporation to create L3Harris Technologies.
